If the week couldn’t get off to a better start, we’ve got Kodaline kicking things off to a sold out crowd at Rock City in a bid to prove critics of their sophomore album ‘Coming Up For Air’ wrong. If that isn’t enough to wet you’re appetite already, Murderdolls’ frontman Wednesday 13 brings hell to Nottingham, acoustic blues duet The Martin Harley Band serenade us at The Bodega and hard rock two-piece Royal Blood are set to show us what they’re made of. All in all, if you like ‘music’, there’s a gig for you this week.

Rock City
Irish modern rock quarter Kodaline are set to pull the heart strings of every teenage girl in Nottingham as they treat us to the new tracks from their sophomore release ‘Coming Up For Air’ on Monday at Rock City. Full of infectious, Oasis-esque hits, it’s a surprise that critics have rated it so harshly. If people want to hear the same Kodaline that they fell in love with back in 2013, you may as well just buy their debut twice. ‘Coming Up For Air’ extracts the feel good vibes from ‘In A Perfect World’, yet teases us with catchy new riffs and sing-along lyrics sung effortlessly by frontman Steve Garrigan. Following the release of the hugely acclaimed, Kerrang! Award winning recent album ‘Lost Forever, Lost Together’, Architects are set to plat the penultimate show of their biggest headline tour to date on Friday. The band had this to say; “…We’re bring along our good friends in Every Time I Die, Blessthefall and Counterparts to make it one of the biggest heavy bills of the year. After tickets for their upcoming UK and Ireland tour sold-out within just two minutes, Royal Blood announced details of a major European tour which includes a gig at our very own Rock City on Saturday. The tour adds to a phenomenal breakthrough year for the duo, which has already seen their Mercury Prize-nominated self-titled debut album hit #1 as the highest charting debut rock album in three years.

Rescue Rooms
Wednesday 13 is a horror punk band, fronted by Wednesday 13 of Maniac Spider Trash, Murderdolls, Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13, Bourbon Crow fame. The group formed in 2004 and continue to play. If you’re into your devilish, screaming metal, then I do believe we’ve found just the band for you. Wednesday 13 play Rescue Rooms on Saturday.

The Bodega

The Martin Harley Band are the UK’s premier blues and roots-influenced acoustic combo. Fronted by the inimitable singer and guitarist Martin Harley (also an accomplished solo performer), and based around his sublime songwriting, the MHB (as their fans know them) truly are a band like no other. With a strong DIY ethic and a love of unusual instrumentation, from Martin’s distinctive lap-slide guitar to balalaikas, double bass and tiny cocktail drumkits, and bolstered by delectable three-part harmonies, the band have crafted a unique, timeless sound that has seen them develop a sizeable following both in the UK and abroad. – See more here.
