The Rifles – Rock City, Saturday 5th March 2016

Not played on radio, not endorsed by the NME, not bothered. London four-piece The Rifles have been producing their own brand of indie-rock for over 10 years now, and have in that time been commercially acclaimed both at home and abroad – a feat achieved by few and maintained by even fewer. In that time four albums have been made – each one different from its predecessor while also creating an effect of seamless transition; the differences and variations not so drastic as to lose the sound which appealed to their fanbase in the first place.

With a new album forthcoming this year as a follow up to latest record ‘None The Wiser’, their set at Rock City is expected to contain a flavour of what fans can expect on the new record. However, there is no doubt that old crowd favourites such as ‘She’s Got Standards’ and ‘Sometimes’ will also get an airing. It is an indisputable fact that two of the strengths of the cockney band is the lack of much in the way of album ‘filler’, and the atmosphere they are able to generate amongst their audiences – therefore there is little doubt that Saturday will be a memorable one. There are still tickets – getting one could be the best decision you make all year.
