The Fratellis Preview

On Thursday 19th November The Fratellis are coming to Nottingham and, boy, are we excited. Their new album, Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied, came out earlier this year and proved to be a rather different listening experience to their previous albums. Unlike the well-known hits of Chelsea Dagger and Henrietta, their new stuff has much more of a country feel. Nevertheless, the Glaswegian group have kept their sharp lyrics and sweet piano accompaniments – and, of course, Jon Fratelli still has that beautifully rough voice.

The band released their debut album in 2006. It went straight to number 2 in the UK charts and consequently The Fratellis won the BRIT Award for Best British Breakthrough Act the following year. As well as completing multiple UK tours, they have performed at NME’s Rock ‘n’ Riot tour, OXEGEN 2007 and T in the Park. In 2008, the band cracked America, playing sell-out shows in New York City, Boston, and Los Angeles. A year later, the members decided to each have their own space for a while to pursue solo projects, or, as in Jon Fratelli’s case, a solo career. Thankfully, however, the band are back together again, and will hopefully continue to make rock music for years to come.
