Almost a month after the release of their second album “A Better Life”, Macclesfield band Spring King headlined Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms for the penultimate night of their UK tour. Their set was packed full of songs from both their albums, providing a great performance of non-stop energy.
Starting the night were four-piece Ed The Dog. They played a variety of bouncy, upbeat, Wombat-esque songs and even branched into a Robbie Williams cover for a minute. The four all wore smart shirts and ties and considering they’ve been a fairly unheard-of band up until now, have picked up a lot of interest. With an album already out and talks of their own headline show in the not so distant future, Ed The Dog are a band to watch out for.
With the support over, Spring King were ready to take the stage. They kicked off and didn’t hold back for their whole performance. There definitely wasn’t a chance for a breather and the mosh pit didn’t stop bouncing all night. The room exploded when “Animal” played, and the crowd also loved “It’s So Dark” and “Let’s Drink”.
The night went by incredibly quickly and Spring King didn’t mess around with an encore either, however, Ed The Dog did surprise the audience with a second appearance in very small black shorts. On that bizarre note, the crowd was left buzzing, bruised and thoroughly worn out. Spring King finish their UK tour in Birmingham and then we’ll have to wait and see what they bring to us in future.
