Nottingham’s freshest approach to the indie scene has been signed, sealed and delivered today in the form of student 4-piece, Tusk.
Our university has seen a wealth of talent emerge over the last few years. Take London Grammar, arguably one of the greatest bands to be born out of Nottingham’s thriving music scene, won an Ivor Novello Award and sold a top 5 album in 2014, as you do. Also, incredible live band Amber Run, who recently sold out 3 homecoming shows in the last month of 2015, spawned from 5 uni dropouts come budding musicians. So, who do we turn to in 2016 to whet our local student pallet? Well, we may just have the answer. Introducing, Tusk.
Today is the day. At 5PM we’re releasing our first track “Dull Ache”. Major love to Dan Ellis for putting up with us and mastering this. This will be the first of many, thanks for baring with us. Posted by Tusk on Friday, 8 January 2016
Speaking to bassist Jamie Irving on the release of ‘Dull Ache’ “It’s our first demo we’re releasing, we’re sending it off to various people to get noticed, we’ve got a couple more in the pipeline either late January or early February.” On describing the track itself, “I’d say it’s alternative-rock/indie-rock. The vocals are influenced by Jeff Buckley, it definitely has that sort of feel to it. I’d say the vocals are quite ethereal. The music itself is kind of Foals, Two Door Cinema Club-esque.”
You can listen to the full track below now. Leave a comment and don’t forget to give them a cheeky like on Facebook.
