Gem 106, the multi-award winning East Midlands radio brand, is to be the official media partner for the region’s premier live venue, the Nottingham Arena.
You may be wondering why we’re referring to your beloved Capital FM Arena as “The Nottingham Arena”. As a third-year who knows no different, it turns out that Capital FM bought the naming rights to the arena when Trent FM terminated back in 2011. Therefore, it’s now a new sponsors turn for the arena to be given a new name – the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham. I know, right; “but it’s always been the Capital FM Arena!?” I guess it’s time for us to accept the inevitable and move on … it’s just a name after all, and hey, personally I think it’s got a ring to it. The deal will see Gem 106 deliver live broadcasts and ticket giveaways for the venue’s key events, giving both listeners and venue-goers an enhanced experience through a unique entertainment offering.
Nottingham Arena’s Marketing & Sales Director Sharon Lordan said: “We’re really looking forward to working with the team at Gem 106. Their enthusiasm and creativity will enhance the experience for our Arena visitors, whilst offering unique benefits to their listeners. It’s set to be an exciting new partnership.”
Orion Media’s CEO Adrian Serle said: “Our new partnership with the Nottingham Arena is testament to the ongoing investment we make in our brands, and the region. This deal will highlight the station’s continued plans for growth, and will further cement Gem’s position as one of the most listened to radio stations in the East Midlands”.
As well as a prominent visible presence within the Arena, Gem 106 will celebrate the arrival of the world’s biggest music, comedy and entertainment artists, with bespoke on-air coverage and build up to big events.
The Mic are looking forward to the new partnership and we wish Gem 106 and the Nottingham Arena all the best.
