King Krule - Seaforth

Alice Beard takes a look at King Krule's latest release Seaforth.

The mighty King Krule makes a comeback with dreamy new single Seaforth. And what a comeback it is! With this release, Marshall sets a fine balance between melancholia and hope. We have once again been graced with another track containing all the hallmarks of a great Krule song. It feels dissonant and pensive, yet the riffs that flutter and drift through the soundscape provide a lightness to leave the listener with a deepening sensation of bittersweet nostalgia. Something in Marshall has shifted, perhaps fatherhood giving light to a new optimism. He seems to have come to a place of musical solitude perfectly encompassed in this release. Guiding us through the sand, surf, and heaviness of love, Marshall concludes "This faith is all I have". The tangible sense of growth to be felt in this track brings a newfound breeziness and vulnerability which we can only hope will be explored further in the upcoming album Space Heavy. The wait between now and June 9th is sure to be a long one.
