Nottinghamshire’s very own Georgie gave a fantastic performance at Rock City on Friday 28th October.
At only 21 years old, Georgie has proven that her future is going to be bright as she brilliantly demonstrated her talents as the supporting act for Jake Bugg. Although relatively new and unknown to the music industry, I overheard several fans praising and complementing her during the Rock City gig, suggesting that this girl has star quality and a strong career ahead of herself. With a set of vocals resembling early 60s ‘Rock n Roll’ and folk music, I strongly agree that Georgie was a fantastic opening act for Jake Bugg and his fans were not disappointed.
Standing centre stage, dressed simple in jeans and a leather jacket and accompanied by her guitars, she looked cool and content. Like Jake, Georgie wasn’t overly chatty but this didn’t hinder her chances of giving a good show, if anything it added a sense of mysteriousness to it. After performing a selection of songs, including one of my favourites ‘This Ain’t Heaven’, she came to the end of her set and finished with her recent single ‘Company of Thieves’. I find it difficult to fault her performance, her voice was lovely and she was very polite to the crowd. All in all it was a great show and I strongly urge you to take the time to listen to her music.
