For those of you into Tyga, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, Drake’s smash new single ‘Hotline Bling’ is sure to be the latest track hitting your favourites playlist. After releasing his latest hit during his Beats 1 OVO Sound radio show in the latter end of July, it took social media by storm after the release of the awaited music video which launched on October 19th.
Subject to much scrutiny and mockery, although proving to be very popular, Drakes music video has become the latest twitter #trend, with the vast majority of young/critical music fans exploiting this video via the use of social media sites. For those of you who have failed to witness Drakes ‘Hotline Bling’ video, you’re missing out. The film opens with a group of attractive females working for a ‘phone sex hotline’ company, before directing all cameras to Drake who is pictured in an elusive, multi-coloured frame, pulling off some very ‘unique’ dance moves. This social media storm highlights the comical moves of Drake, whilst featuring them amongst a compilation of animations and previous trending vines. Furthermore, this trend caused Drake’s collaborations to go viral, in turn boosting his initial video views.
Overall, despite the variety of parodies arising, this Drake video is an entertaining, vibrant video which draws you in… Although you are left wondering what on earth caused Drake to dance in the style he chose.
