Indie folk is one of those genres which deserves more recognition. The bearded Irish beauty, Ciaran Lavery just summed up what is missing from the modern-indie scene.
The small gig in one of my favourite venues of Nottingham, Rescue Rooms, could have done with a better turnout honestly. Despite the lack of many, he kicked off his set with a few covers of popular songs to get the crowd swaying to his acoustic vibes. A new and refreshing take on ‘All Night Long’ and ‘I Can’t Feel My Face” was just what we all needed that mellow Monday evening.
Following the release of a few EP’s, including the latest ‘Sea Legs’ earlier this year, he really came to showcase what he was all about. His mix of old and new music really got the audience in an awe of what he was all about. He ended the hour long set with ‘Shame’ a love ballad, perfect for all the star-crossed lovers in the audience holding hands.
It made a change to all the hustle and bustle I’m used to, which was definitely a good thing.
