Alt-J are now the reaching the stage where they almost don’t need to be introduced and 2015 has been an incredible year for them. Following the release of their sophomore effort ‘This is All Yours’, they’ve been nominated for a Grammy, played Glastonbury’s legendary Pyramid Stage and have really become one of the biggest names in the ‘indiesphere’.
After touring in mainland Europe, North America and the UK, the art rock trio are finally capping it all off, with tomorrow’s gig at Nottingham’s very own Capital FM Arena. Not only that, but the fortunate lot in attendance get two-time Mercury Prize nominee Ghostpoet as well as punk rock outfit The Horrors in support; perhaps an odd combination which should nonetheless set the tone perfectly for the definitely odd sounds of Alt-J.
We’ll no doubt be treated to the big crowd-pleasers such as “Breezeblocks”, “Fitzpleasure” and “Left Hand Free” but also the more serene sounds of “Taro”, “Nara” or “Warm Foothills”. This should be a gig celebrating the band’s two excellent releases so no new material is expected, but you never know, there may be a few surprises here and there. What is sure though, is this will be one of the Arena’s biggest gigs of the year, so don’t miss out!
