Preview: Franz Ferdinand and Albert Hammond Jr at Rock City

American guitarist, singer, song writer and producer Albert Hammond Jr is set to support Franz Ferdinand at their Rock City show on Wednesday 14th February. Best known for his role in The Strokes- his solo work is also extremely popular and sure to provide entertainment for those spending Valentine’s Day with their love of music.

His long awaited fourth album, Francis Trouble is due to be released on March 9th with the first single ‘Muted Beatings’ being released only last week on February 2nd. The album title comes from the death of his twin brother in the womb, who’s fingernail remained and was born with Albert Hammond. This bitter-sweet tribute to his unborn brother is a tribute to Francis’ death but also Albert’s life and how it has impacted him during his life.

‘Muted beings’ highlights Hammond’s ability to choose a perfect backing guitar riff whilst also demonstrating his skills on the instrument. Its release is a promising sign that the new album will be equally as good, and that anybody seeing him during the coming months should be very excited and expect a mixture of well-known classics and new music.

There are still tickets remaining for the Rock City show on February 14th so if you still don’t have plans for Valentine’s, you should go and see this talented musician support an incredible band.
